HSC Hermes & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

As Hermes, we are a socially involved club and actively participate in activities in the context of CSR, where we do not lose sight of the fact that we are a hockey club that exists for our members. Hermes is committed to having a positive impact on society in addition to practicing hockey. Hermes is therefore active in the field of CSR.

HSC Hermes at "Sportpark De Linie"

The field and clubhouse of HSC Hermes are located at the " Sportpark De Linie". This is a multifunctional public sports park that, in addition to HSC Hermes, also houses Rugby Club Den Helder (RCDH), Kynoloogclub West-Friesland (KCWF) and Cricket Club Den Helder (CC-Den Helder). The sports park is also used for gymnastics lessons supported by Hermes by the local secondary school. Regular events and activities organized by various clubs take place at the sports park.

Socially Responsible themes at HSC Hermes

1. Participation of vulnerable groups (activities for people who cannot easily participate in society, reintegration and prevention of loneliness)

• The clubhouse and field of HSC Hermes are wheelchair friendly.

2. Active citizenship (structural partnerships with other organizations, recurring events for the neighborhood/district/municipality, multifunctional use of the accommodation and activities to relieve informal caregivers)

• HSC Hermes regularly exchanges ideas with other associations (such as Rugby Club RCDH and Basketball Association Den Helder Suns) in the municipality about CSR initiatives and shares knowledge and skills where necessary. Hermes actively participates in various regional partnerships such as NHN-Hockey (regional association of hockey clubs North Holland) and HEMA (close collaboration between Hermes and Magnus). The multifunctionality of the accommodation requires no further explanation.

3. Promoting a healthy lifestyle (healthy canteen, combating obesity, responsible alcohol policy, first aid and AED)

• HSC Hermes has been active in the field of healthy sports canteens for a number of years. An AED is available in the HSC Hermes clubhouse and training courses are also organized for its use. HSC Hermes has joined the smoke-free sports grounds and is actively pursuing a -alcohol policy.
